A Look Forward: Five Marketing Trends to Embrace in 2023

As we enter 2023, it’s important for marketers to stay up-to-date on the latest trends to effectively reach and engage with their audiences. Innovation is a core value at Noisy Trumpet and we pride ourselves in staying on top of trends, sharing expertise, and being receptive to new advances. Here are some of the top marketing trends to watch this year:

Short-Form Videos

Video is expected to continue its dominance as a digital marketing medium with more businesses leveraging platforms such as TikTok, Instagram and YouTube, to reach their audience. Short-form videos are particularly successful as they enable more content to be produced in less time and can get their point across without requiring a long attention span.

Marketers are surely taking notice of the sky-rocketing impact short-form videos are making as they have rapidly begun to implement them into their strategy. According to Brightcove, studies prove that businesses who are using them have had 1200% more engagement on social media and a 41% increase in website traffic than those that don’t.

Influencer Marketing

It’s no secret that influencer marketing is on the rise as it has expanded to a powerful $16.4 billion dollar industry in 2022, and it won’t stop there. Collaboration between brands and influencers drives tremendous growth and results due to their extensive following and the trust they have built within their community that generates more response to content they put out for the brand.

In the coming year, it is expected that micro-influencers will become increasingly popular as well. Because micro-influencers have a smaller following than those who are more large-scale, it is more cost-effective and will produce greater impact per impression made. Overall, influencer marketing is an incredibly effective strategy for reaching a specific audience, heightening brand awareness, and attracting customers.

User Generated Content (UGC)

One trend we expect to see continue to grow is the use of user-generated content in marketing campaigns. User-generated content, or UGC, is a type of content created and shared by consumers, rather than being produced by a brand or business. This can include things like social media posts, reviews, blog posts, and more.

This is highly effective because it is authentic and credible. Consumers trust other consumers more than they trust brands, so content creation that comes from real people is more likely to be believed and trusted. UGC helps spread the message of a brand or business to a wider audience, without the need for expensive advertising. This can be especially powerful for small businesses that may not have the resources to create large-scale marketing campaigns.

Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning

Artificial intelligence and machine learning are set to transform the way marketers work. These technologies can be used for tasks such as analyzing customer data, predicting customer behavior, website development and automating marketing processes. Additionally, by evaluating the efficacy of various marketing channels, such as email campaigns, social media ads, or search engine ads, AI and ML can be utilized to optimize marketing efforts.

They are becoming increasingly important in the marketing field due to their ability to help organizations evaluate vast amounts of data and make more informed conclusions about their marketing strategies.

Decrease in Twitter Usage

Twitter has long been a force for marketing with its capacity to promote products and services, engage with customers, and share updates for businesses on a wide scale. However, this has drastically changed ever since magnate and investor, Elon Musk, purchased Twitter on October 27, 2022.

Upon eliminating its Trust and Safety Council, unbanning high-profile extremist accounts, and Musk putting out inappropriate jokes and remarks himself, Twitter has lost a substantial number of advertisers and revenue. Businesses are now questioning their brand’s safety on the platform and don’t want to associate with the behavior and events taking place. Considering this, we can certainly expect to see a decline in the use of Twitter for marketing, and social media management in general.

If you’re unsure how to navigate the rapidly evolving social media environment, our team can assist you in determining which channels are best for your industry.

Overall, 2023 is shaping up to be an exciting year for marketers, with new technologies and strategies constantly emerging. By staying on top of the latest trends, businesses can ensure they’re positioned to succeed in an increasingly competitive landscape. If your company has any questions regarding the tactics discussed, please reach out and our team will be happy to assist!

The Value of One Earned Media Impression

Earned media public relations campaigns are measured by the number of impressions made over the course of the campaign window. More impressions mean more people reached and better results generated for the client. The value of one single impression doesn’t sound like much …until you hear this story.

Noisy Trumpet has the privilege of representing JDRF in San Antonio and Austin. JDRF is the leading nonprofit spearheading awareness, advocacy, and research for Type 1 Diabetes (T1D), an incurable and unpreventable autoimmune disease often affecting children. The highs and lows of this disease wreak havoc on families and the person living with T1D; T1D can be fatal.

In early November, JDRF held their annual OneWalk at Morgan’s Wonderland in San Antonio. Thousands of people attended the walk to show support for those living with T1D. Leading up to the event, the Noisy Trumpet PR team worked diligently to secure earned media coverage to raise awareness of the event, including a live news shot the morning of the walk on KSAT(ABC).

An amazing and inspiring story emerged from that on-site news story.

At OneWalk, a participant approached Amanda Mounts, Executive Director of the San Antonio Chapter of JDRF, and shared that she was currently fostering a child with T1D. The child had been moved from home to home because caregivers did not know how to properly care for him.

On November 6, the morning of OneWalk, the woman was watching the news and saw KSAT’s live shot of the event. She was immediately inspired to gather her family and attend the walk that day. There, she was able to engage with others in the T1D community and find resources for her foster child. She was met with open arms, resources, and inspiration. As she chatted with Amanda that morning, she remarked that she ‘now knows what to do to care for her foster child’ thanks to JDRF.

Interestingly, foster children with T1D are often moved around from home to home, even to medical facilities like nursing homes because caregivers do not know how to care for diabetic children whose ups and downs affect quality of life for the whole family. Re-engaging with the foster community to share support and resources is now a renewed focus for JDRF in San Antonio.

While OneWalk-San Antonio garnered over 4.5 million impressions in media coverage, one impression is all it took to change and save a life!

From the Office of the President: Year End Update

As 2023 quickly approaches, I am reflecting on the amazing year that’s closing. Both The PM Group and Noisy Trumpet Digital & PR had terrific, record-setting years in terms of growth and revenue. We expanded our teams to accommodate this rapid growth and have worked hard to keep our teams engaged.

On The PM Group side, our clients’ businesses organically grew, with expansion into new markets and via competitive acquisition. Our Noisy Trumpet business grew through new client acquisition in multiple verticals. Marketing and advertising services have been exceptionally in demand during these uncertain economic times. From digital advertising to public relations, creative design and media driving promotions, all services increased this year. Results matter and businesses trust marketing agencies that deliver results.

Our teams have been a critical part of our success this year. This week we rewarded them with over $200,000 in bonuses. Those bonuses were on top of the $175,000 in bonuses paid during the year. In total, over $375,000 in bonuses were paid to our employees in 2022 for their hard work. We plan to continue our bonus programs in 2023. Great clients and employees are a blessing. I am so thankful for both.

With numerous new business proposals in the works for 2023, we don’t plan to slow down!

If your business is looking for marketing innovation, new creative ideas, or advertising agency support, we’d love to chat about the difference we can make in your business.

Making Your Nonprofit Fundraising Efforts Be Heard with Noisy Trumpet

As we approach the end of the year, it may seem like the “season of giving” as many nonprofit fundraising campaigns are in full swing. However, an entire year of opportunities exists that you can take advantage of. Nonprofits should continually cultivate new donors throughout the year so that your organization has a steady stream of active supporters ready to donate when it comes time for annual giving campaigns or other major initiatives. We’re sharing some best practices for fundraising strategies so that your mission is heard by potential donors all year long in 2023!

Use digital advertisements to drive awareness about your organization.

Digital advertising is a great way to reach your target audience online. The goal is to get them excited about your cause and drive traffic to your website. The key is to use visual content—like photos or videos—so that people can easily understand and empathize with what is being requested of them. Make sure there’s a clear call to action so donors know exactly how they can help with their gift. Digital advertising is also a great tool because it allows you to measure how well your campaigns are working—whether they’re generating leads or driving traffic back to your website or landing page. Thus, optimizations can be made accordingly for continued improvement.

Design a mobile-friendly site with an optimized donation page to maximize traffic and donations.

Your nonprofit’s website is your most important donation tool, so make sure it looks great, is easily navigable, and is informative. Don’t forget to optimize the site for mobile users—more than half of all people who donate online use their phones or tablets instead of desktop computers. If your nonprofit’s website isn’t optimized for these users, you’ll be missing out on potential donors. Noisy Trumpet’s team of web developers can help you create a site that works well on all screen sizes and platforms, to ensure potential donors can easily donate from wherever they are accessing your website.

Leverage social media to engage your audience.

Social media is a great way to share information and make connections that raise awareness of your nonprofit and its mission. It’s a great way to engage with your audience, build trust, and create an online community around the organization. Additionally, it’s an easy tool for sharing stories that show off the good work your nonprofit is doing. Social media is essential for your organization because it improves your online presence while gaining valuable insights about your audience. It’s critical to be present on multiple platforms so that people can find you when they need you most. Noisy Trumpet’s creative Social Media Specialists are ready to unleash your organization’s full potential across any platform.

Email marketing is not dead.

The upward trend in social media usage and other digital connections with donors has led some nonprofits to abandon email. However, email remains an extremely effective way to reach donors and raise money. It’s the most cost-effective way to reach your donors, and it remains one of the best ways to communicate with them personally. That’s why our team of experts recommends keeping email marketing as part of your overall fundraising efforts—but you must have an impactful email strategy in place if you want yours to be successful.

It’s never too early to start planning for the end-of-year giving period. Your organization should prepare by developing a long-term fundraising strategy for the entire year. By planning ahead and using as many channels as possible, you can maximize your impact and ensure that everyone who wants to support your cause has an easy way of doing so come the end of the year. If you’re a nonprofit that wants to get your fundraising to reach potential donors, contact our team today!

Your Campaign Deserves More Than Just a Recap…

At Noisy Trumpet, we take pride in the clients we represent and the campaigns we develop to make their brand and businesses stand out from competitors. Above all else, strategic and innovative campaigns are at the forefront of our mission to deliver exemplary results.

In order to ensure our clients receive the proper recognition they deserve, we seek opportunities to highlight the difference they have made in the community by vetting the most appropriate industry awards for their impactful campaigns.

In 2021, Noisy Trumpet was honored to represent The San Antonio Botanical Garden’s new holiday exhibit “Lightscape.” From media relations to traditional and digital media, the campaign yielded groundbreaking attendance records and resulted in two industry award recognitions, national and local respectively, from PR Daily and the Public Relations Society of America’s San Antonio Chapter.

On May 10, “Lightscape” was recognized as a finalist for PR Daily’s Social Media & Digital Awards in the Multichannel campaign category in New York City. This particular campaign category recognized the best digital storytelling efforts that led to an abundant amount of success for their organizations or clients.

Just a few months later, “Lightscape” was honored once more by the Public Relations Society of America – San Antonio Chapter on September 22. The campaign received the La Plata Award of Merit for Integrated Communications.

After months of planning and execution, our work doesn’t end with a simple recap! If you’re looking for an agency that will go above and beyond to spotlight your organization’s efforts, contact us today to learn more!

JDRF One Walk

Noisy Trumpet was out in the community this month supporting and participating in JDRF’s annual “One Walk.” Our team walked alongside a crowd of participants in the pursuit of raising funds for and heightening awareness of Type 1 Diabetes (T1D), a disease that hits close to home for our Noisy Trumpet family.

The Noisy Trumpet family was affected by T1D in May 2020 when our CEO, Fran Yanity’s daughter, received the diagnosis. Our company rapidly chose JDRF as its charity of choice in support of Leighton and the search for a cure. According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, diagnosis of Type 1 diabetes have increased by 30% in the US, and occurrences of the disease are more common in children and young adults. Although there are no vacation days from T1D and a cure has yet to be found, there continues to be overwhelming hope.

We’re so proud to have supported One Walk through the V1P sponsorship. As a part of our sponsorship, we held a festive breakfast with the theme “Be Heard”, where we had food, noise makers, props and more to help make noise in support of T1D awareness. Together, our team was able to raise $23,826 to help JDRF continue its mission of finding a cure for T1D.  However, our support of JDRF didn’t stop there. Noisy Trumpet’s public relations team secured media coverage in outlets such as News 4 San Antonio, FOX San Antonio, and KSAT to help raise awareness for the event and engage the community.

Our team remains grateful to work with an organization that we are passionate about, and to share in the efforts of achieving life-changing goals. To learn more about T1D or to support JDRF, visit JDRF.org.

Noisy Trumpet Public Relations Team Expands Media Coverage Throughout Texas

The Public Relations team at Noisy Trumpet wrapped up a strong month in August with media coverage we secured for our client TEXAS YES. At the start of every school year, the educational nonprofit distributes thousands of school supplies to Title 1 elementary schools throughout Texas including San Antonio, Corpus Christi, and Austin, through their “Box of Dreams” program. This year, with the tremendous generosity of prominent injury attorney and philanthropist Thomas J. Henry, TEXAS YES was able to expand efforts to the Dallas Fort-Worth area.

Well before the start of the distribution, our PR efforts helped secure media coverage in the San Antonio and Corpus Christi area. Soon after, we secured coverage in every market where we gave out much-needed school essentials, including our biggest market, Dallas Fort-Worth. In total, we garnered 31 media hits, which resulted in over 24 million impressions across each market.

Not only is it exciting for us to tap into a new media market, it’s also rewarding to share the stories of our important nonprofits, which helps thousands, if not millions of families.

If you’re a local nonprofit who wants to be featured in the news in a positive way, but doesn’t know where to start, contact our public relations team today! We would love to work with you and share the worthwhile impact your nonprofit has on the community.

Overlooked Content Marketing Strategies

Companies have a handful of tried and true marketing tactics most brands utilize – social media marketing, digital advertising, SEO, blogs – to name a few. These marketing strategies can be incredibly useful and beneficial to brand building. However, to maximize digital presence, organizations need to think outside of the box. To capture an audience’s attention, try using one of the underutilized marketing tactics below:

  1. Google Business Profile

Google is the world’s most-visited website. It’s the place to showcase the best your business has to offer. Google Business profiles should be optimized to ensure you’re connecting with the appropriate audience that is searching for products, services, or businesses like yours on Google Search and Maps. Creating custom content, encouraging and responding to reviews, and keeping business information up to date, will help you get discovered on Google.

  1. Micro-Influencers

Influencer marketing is great for creating brand awareness. Enlisting the help of micro-influencers can help organizations reach hyper-localized, niche audiences. They often have less than 10K followers but tend to have higher engagement rates and more targeted audiences. Our team already has unique relationships with a host of micro-influencers around Texas. We can help match you with those who will best fit your organization’s needs!

  1. Online Forums

Online forums allow users to ask and answer questions about various topics. These include Reddit, Facebook Groups, and LinkedIn Groups, among others. The goal when using these platforms is to find a niche group of people asking questions and searching for information about your product, service, or industry. Your marketing team can use their expertise to answer queries and recommend your company. This is a great way to connect with your audience and highlight your product or service.

  1. Keyword Research

Where do consumers go to find information online? Most go straight to Google. Ensuring your website and Google Ads include important keywords and phrases that your target audience might be searching for will help lead potential customers to your organization. Being in the right place at the right time pays off!

  1. Interviews with Thought Leaders

Establishing credibility is essential to building trust between your organization and your audience. Partnering with a thought leader in your industry for a blog, podcast, or social takeover to promote your brand can help expand your network, diversify your content, and connect you with a different audience.

While sticking to dependable marketing tactics will provide good results, going the extra mile to reach your target audience will help your organization grow to its full potential. Not sure how to get started? We can help! Noisy Trumpet has a team of Social Media and Digital Marketing Specialists ready to drive measurable results. Contact us today!

Why PR Industry Awards Matter

Noisy Trumpet’s work has been recognized amongst the best in the country following our recent nomination at this year’s Ragan PR Daily Awards in New York City. Our digital media, public relations, and traditional media campaign for the San Antonio Botanical Garden’s new holiday exhibition, ‘Lightscape,’ received an honorable mention in the “Multi-Media Campaign” category. Part of the team traveled to the ‘Big Apple’ in May to personally accept the award.  The etched glass plaque is now proudly displayed in our San Antonio office alongside other national, regional, and local accolades.

Industry awards are more than just trophies to line the wall of a workplace. They are symbols of excellence and effort.  These awards don’t just magically appear.  To be considered, award opportunities must be properly vetted, and applications must be filled out in great detail. This is something we encourage all clients to pursue. The time and resources for each submission yield extraordinary benefits both externally and internally.

Business awards can galvanize the people who worked so hard to create the project or campaign worthy of a submission. The recognition can boost staff morale and increase credibility in the industry. In addition, award opportunities demonstrate management’s commitment to not only the quality work we provide to all our clients, but also how much they value employees.

Awards can also increase your bottom line regardless of taking home the top prize.  Just being a finalist can add credibility.  The nomination by an esteemed third party is a valuable endorsement. That recognition also increases brand awareness and visibility.  Industry awards can be included in agency marketing efforts to set you apart from competition.

As the saying goes, “you can’t win if you don’t play.”  Finding and applying for industry awards can be time-consuming but are worth the effort. Noisy Trumpet’s public relations team identifies and submits applications on behalf of our busy clients.  If you are interested in increasing your recognition, contact us today!
